Welcome!

I didn’t start this blog because I had it all figured out. I started it because I finally did — after years of not.

At 38, my body made a decision for me. I was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome, an autoimmune condition that left me fatigued, uncomfortable, and honestly a little lost. For someone who had been overweight her entire life and had tried everything, a chronic illness diagnosis felt like one more thing my body was doing wrong.

But it turned out to be the turning point I didn’t know I needed.

Out of necessity, I started paying close attention to what I was eating. Going gluten-free wasn’t a trend for me — it was a response to real symptoms, and the difference it made was impossible to ignore. My energy shifted. My inflammation calmed. And slowly, for the first time in my life, my weight started to change — not through deprivation or punishing routines, but through genuinely nourishing myself. I lost weight I had carried my whole life, and more importantly, I’ve maintained it — because it came from a place of listening to my body rather than fighting it.

The mindset shift was just as significant as the food shift. I started finding things to be grateful for in ordinary moments — a warm meal, a sunlit corner of my home, a quiet morning. I stopped measuring my worth against everything I hadn’t achieved and started finding genuine contentment in what was already around me. Thinking positively sounds like a cliché until you realize how much energy you were spending thinking the opposite.

The home piece came naturally from there. When you start caring about how you feel on the inside, you start caring about your environment too. I began creating small pockets of calm in my home — not expensive renovations, just intentional touches that made my space feel like it belonged to me. A cozy corner. A well-organized kitchen. A room that felt restful instead of chaotic. It made a quiet but real difference.

That’s what Nourish and Dwell is built on — real life, real changes, and the belief that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be dramatic or expensive.

Here you’ll find high-protein gluten-free vegetarian recipes designed to actually fuel you — filling, flavorful, and built around ingredients that love you back. And you’ll find affordable home decor ideas for people who want their space to feel warm and intentional without a massive budget.
